Michigan women in the 2026 Olympics

If you’ve been following any of the athletes’ storylines on the road to qualifying, you know this Olympics is shaping up to be an exciting moment for women’s sports. We can’t wait to see the stories unfold. Here’s a quick write up we put together to shout out all the women from Michigan who made it to the Olympics 2026!

Megan Keller

No stranger to the Olympics, Megan Keller of Farmington will be making her third trip to the Games as a standout defender for the U.S. Women’s ice hockey team. A gold medalist in 2018 and silver medalist in 2022, Keller is also team captain for the PWHL’s Boston Fleet, where she brings a calm presence to the blue line and plays with an edge that sets the tone, ranking among league leaders in minutes per game. Her list of accomplishments and accolades spans 10 World Champion teams, four Four Nations Cups, and a deep résumé of other international events. The prolific Keller and the top seeded Americans will face off for their first game against Czechia on February 5th!

Kirsten Simms

Joining Keller on this year’s U.S. Women’s ice hockey team in Milan will be Plymouth’s Kirsten Simms. Making her Olympic debut, Simms enters the Games as one of the youngest players on the roster. The forward has a knack for big moments — during her junior year at Wisconsin, she scored both the game-tying and game-winning goals in the championship game of the 2025 NCAA Division I women’s ice hockey tournament, and was later named the tournament’s most outstanding player. While Simms has senior-level international experience as a member of the 2024 and 2025 World Championship teams, Milan represents an opportunity to take the next step in her rapidly ascending career.

Emilea Zingas

Grosse Pointe Farms’ Emilea Zingas will be taking her ice dancing talents to the rink as part of the U.S. Figure Skating team. The Olympics debutant has already earned medals at U.S. Championships and major international events, and the 2026 Winter Games will put her grace and athleticism in the world spotlight. Multi-talented, she is a neuroscience student at Wayne State — and speaks four languages! Coming into Milan on a hot streak after winning the ISU Four Continents Championship, Zingas is ready to showcase her skill on the Olympic stage starting February 6.

Other Olympians with Michigan ties to watch in Milan and Cortina: Kaila Kuhn of Boyne City and Winter Venicci of Gaylord are representing the U.S. in freestyle skiing, while Madison Chock, who trains in Novi, takes the rink in ice dancing, and Deedra Irwin, a Michigan Tech graduate, will be competing in biathlon.

We’re excited to watch these athletes represent the Mitten State and bring home some hardware! We hope you can join us in cheering on Team USA during our upcoming Olympics events.
